John H. Landwehr Jr., age 99, died on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. John was born to John and Ida Landwehr, in St. Louis, Mo. on February 16, 1919. John's parents, his brother, Irvin, and wife Mary Katherine (Kay) preceded him in death. He is survived by his nephew John William Landwehr (Cherril) of Klamath Falls, Ore. and his niece Mary Olson (Joe) of Roseville, Minn. John graduated, with a degree in engineering, from Washington University, in St. Louis, as did his father and brother. After college graduation, John married the love of his life, Kay Stanfield. During World War II, John was a civilian contract employee with Philco Corp. During that time, he worked closely with flight crew trainees and radio engineers at the Army Air Field Pilot School in Columbus, MS. Following the war John began a long career with Southwestern Bell Telephone company in St. Louis. He and his wife moved to Little Rock, in 1951. John enjoyed sailing, skiing, model railroading, travel, wood carving and gardening. He had a particular love of orchids and his dachshund dogs. John's life will be celebrated by his family and friends in the Fellowship Hall at Grace Presbyterian Church (9301 N Rodney Parham Road, Little Rock, Ark.) on February 17 (12 noon to 2 p.m.).
