JACKIE BURNETT, 80, of Little Rock, passed through heaven's gates on Tuesday, February 12, 2019. Preceding her in death were: her husband, Charles Burnett, Jr.; mother, Betty Lee; siblings, Matthew Lee and Robert Talley, Jr.; father, Lawrence Lee, Sr., and Robert Talley, Sr. Jackie leaves to cherish her loving memories: daughters, Betsey Burnett Bernard and Ray Burnett; son-in-law, Romar Bernard; siblings, Laurene Spears and Lawrence Lee, Jr.; nieces, nephews, and a host of beloved cousins. Jackie had a successful career with the Dept of Education, Office for Civil Rights, Education Division as an Equal Opportunity Specialist (GS-13). During her employment Jackie was recognized by the Department of Education for a Departmental Mentor Award (1994) for helping, advising, instructing and serving as a role model to her fellow employees. Jackie was an accomplished bridge player and was recognized for her skills as the 1st Place Winner Open Pair, Memphis Bridge Unit (2003). She was an active alumni member of her alma mater, Talladega College (Talladega, Alabama). She also was very active with the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Little Rock Branch (Little Rock, Arkansas). Jackie was a member of the Faith United Church of Christ (formerly located in Little Rock, Ark.). When the church closed its doors and relocated to Conway, Ark., she continued to support the UCC church affiliation by actively giving to the Cross Street Church Christian Church (Little Rock, Ark.).
