Larry Gaines Weatherford

Larry Gaines Weatherford made his last hysterically, sarcastic comment on February 19, 2019. Anyone who didn't laugh while around him can be sure they had no sense of humor. He passed in peace at home in Sherwood, Arkansas at the age of 71 with all of his children present. Larry was a Vietnam veteran, he retired from Union Pacific railroad and was an entrepreneur. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Young Weatherford and his father Leonard James "Gaines" Weatherford and twin boys Robert Weatherford and Larry Weatherford Jr. Instead of an obituary about a courageous battle lost to cancer, Larry wants it known that he lived 71 years enjoying family, golf, cars and friends until the day he died. He was given the gift of a fabulous life, and now it has been taken back. The Old Man, The Myth, The Legend, Paw, daddy, PaPa, Gron Dog, Honest Elmo, Babe, was a man that women wanted to be with and men wanted to be. He leaves behind two special women in his life, his first love Sharon Ford Weatherford, the mother of his six children. Also, the angel that came into his life Brenda "Bluebird" Clyburn, his loving fiancé that he adored. He is survived by four of his children, Lisa Michelle, his only daughter who he has always told: "You can do anything the boys can do." Michael Todd, his oldest son and gambling buddy (especially the horse races at Oaklawn) His middle son Barry Allen, who is his twin and protégé. The baby, Jason Brett, who adores him and has followed in his footsteps. Also, son in law Alan "Nick" Dunaway, his two daughters-in-law's, Kimberly and Wendy, that he adopted as his own children. He would never take Todd or Brett's side on anything against his girls. He is also survived by his older sister Joan Weatherford Dobbs whom he worships and his brother Robert Weatherford, who he had a close relationship with. He took extreme pride in his eight grandchildren, Casey, Stefan, Jessica, Devin, Patience, Brayden, Skye, and Bear and one great-grandson, Trenton. He also loved Apryl and Jorden like they were his own. He is also survived by his favorite kids, puppies Ollie and Lucas. He was born; he blinked, and it was over. However, he truly lived every single minute he was blessed to have on this earth. I'll leave you with this…he doesn't want tears because he is gone; instead, he would want you to be happy he was here. Maybe if you find it in your heart, share a story or fond memory with the family so he can live in everyone's heart another day. Today Larry Gaines Weatherford is happy and dancing with the angels and probably making sarcastic jokes. But, here on this earth, he will live on in our hearts and thoughts forever. A Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at Smith-North Little Rock Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, February 23 at the funeral home.
