Nancy Orr

Nancy Orr, 79, of Ash Flat, passed away Feb.18, 2019, in Batesville. She was born Nov. 4, 1939, in Hyannis, Neb. Nancy worked as a paralegal in her husband's law office and was an abstracter. She was a leader in numerous community activities: Sharp County Fair, North Central District Fair, Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce (recipient of the E. Wilson Green Community Service Award in 1994, President in 2006 & 2007, and received the President's Award in 2017), White River Medical Complex Advisory Board, Ash Flat Historical Society, White River Museum Board, Ozarka College Foundation Board, and Ash Flat Christmas Parades. She was always sincerely dedicated to the success of youth and adults through Ruff Riders 4-H Club (over 50 years a mentor to hundreds of kids), Hillbilly Horseshow Association, Ash Flat Saddle Club, St. Jude Trail Rides, Battered Women's Shelter, and Christmas Boxes for Senior Citizens. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Maxine (Taylor) Applegarth, and a sister, Lori Lea Applegarth. Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Dan Max Orr; son, Jerry Corbit; sisters, Linda Cleveland of Hyannis, Nebraska, and Kay Golliher of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother, Dean Applegarth of Chadron, Nebraska; many other relatives and a multitude of good friends. In lieu of flowers, Dan and Nancy encourage donations to Ruff Riders 4-H Club c/o Vicki Brink, 35 Dusty Drive, Highland, Ark. 72542, Sharp County Fair, P.O. Box 118, Ash Flat, Ark. 72513, or Ash Flat Cemetery Fund c/o City Hall 72513. A memorial Celebration of Honor and Respect will be Saturday, Feb. 23, at 1 p.m. in the Family Life Center of the Church of Christ in Ash Flat. Arrangements are with Tri-County Funeral Home of Highland.
