Chester Charles Shipman

Chester Charles Shipman, 96, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 19, 2019. He was born September 11, 1922, in Newark, Arkansas to the late James and Cora Bray Shipman. His first and second wives preceded him in death, Ruth Moore and Lela Nickell Laney, as well as 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Survivors include his three children: Mary Alice Macias, Lee Summitt, Missouri; Chester Shipman, Jr., Mansfield, Texas and Stan Shipman, Springtown, Texas; two stepchildren: Gary Laney, Searcy, Ark. and Jeff Laney, Fayetteville, Ark., three grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Chester was a World War II veteran serving in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After the war, he worked and retired as an x-ray technician for the Veterans' Administration Hospital in Fayetteville. He was active in church all his life and believed deeply in the Lord and will be greatly missed by his family and friends for his loving-kindness, amazing sense of humor and positive outlook on life. The family will hold a private memorial at a later date. Memorials may be sent to Vertical Community Church, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
