Carla Deann Downum Parson, 55, of Springdale, Arkansas passed away peacefully on Friday, December 28, 2018, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma surrounded by many who loved her after fighting courageously with her daughters by her side. Carla was born on July 26, 1963, in Springdale to Billy and Pauline (Davis) Downum. Carla was a licensed dental assistant for over 20 years, both in private practice and for the VA Medical Center of Fayetteville. In her time away from work, Carla enjoyed spending time with her family whether it be vacationing, attending rodeos put on by her son-in-law, watching Kason and Karley participate in various rodeo and sporting events and attending Kinley's gymnastic classes. She was a Nana that never missed a part of her grandkids lives. Her grandkids were her world. Her friendly smile, contagious laughter and fun sense of humor could brighten any day and will be significantly missed by those who loved her. Carla is survived by her daughters and their husbands; Maleia and Justin Blisard of Kansas, Oklahoma and Ashley and Justin Lambdin of Huntsville, Arkansas along with grandchildren Kason and Karley Blisard and Kinley Lambdin; her mother Pauline Downum; sisters Robbie and Richard Buss and Tammy and Steve Israel and her brothers Rick and Shirley Jackson, Tony and Pam Downum and Shannon Downum and their families. Carla is also survived by Maleia and Ashley's father, Curren Parson. Carla was preceded in death by her father, Billy Downum and her grandparents Newell and Lois Davis and Louis and Ruth Downum. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 2nd, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Nelson Berna Funeral Home at 4520 N. Crossover Road in Fayetteville. The Celebration of Carla's life will be Thursday, January 3rd at 11 a.m. at Nelson Berna Funeral Home Chapel. Pastor Rex Blisard will be officiating.
