Deacon Sylvester Rodgers, 76, of Sherwood, Ark, moved from labor to reward on Monday, December 31, 2018, was born the 6th of 12 children, the eldest of twins in West Memphis, Arkansas. He was known as a "Jack of All Trades", a master carpenter and multi-talented musician. He served in The U.S. Army during The Vietnam War. He received numerous medals including The National Defense Service Medal, Purple Heart, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with PALM and others. He will be remembered from the West Coast to the Southern Region of our Country. Deacon Sylvester Rodgers was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley Lazel Rodgers and mother, Elosia Franklin Rodgers; brothers, Cleazale, John Wesley, Willard, and Rochester; Surviving loved ones include: his children, Sylvester Bernard Rodgers, Kimberly "Angel" Rodgers, and Dawann Davis; his grandchildren, Marcus, Devin, Keimon, Madison, Aquila, Prince, Shanila; three brothers, Lazel Rodgers, Inglewood, Calif., Christopher C. Rodgers, Los Angeles, Calif., Luther B. Rodgers, Sherwood, Ark.; four sisters, Thelma L. January, Carson, Calif., Velma L. Rodgers, North Little Rock, Ark., Patricia Gordon (Michael), Moro Bay, Calif., Eloise Choice, Yucaipa, Calif. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, numerous friends in the State of Arkansas, California throughout the Grand Ole Church Of God In Christ and other Denominations.
