Betty Stowers, 71, of Elkins, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at her home. She was born March 25, 1947 in Delaney, Ark. to Ervin and Agnes Hill Hollingsworth. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Betty was a member of New Beginnings Baptist Church where she served for years as church custodian. She loved fishing, being outdoors, working in her flowers and she loved her Trinity. Betty spent her last days talking and visiting with family and reading her bible. She was lovingly cared for by her husband until the very end.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Richard Stowers of the home, to whom she was married December 6, 1962; daughters, Donna Cunningham of Elkins; Marsha Mulanax and husband, Kenneth of Elkins; son, Anthony Stowers and wife, Gena of Fayetteville; a sister, Maggie Hattabaugh of Elkins; seven grandchildren, Kevin Bates, Dustin Cunningham, Ashton Schwab, Trevor Mulanax, and Trinity, Tyler and Abby Stowers; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Beard's Chapel with Pastor Anthony Stowers and Rev. Johnny Drummond officiating. Interment will follow in Brannon Mountain Cemetery. There is no scheduled visitation. Condolences at www.beardsfuneralchapel.com.
