Samuel Tilden Hollowell, 87, of Little Rock, passed away January 8, 2019. He was born in Dover, Arkansas to S. T. Hollowell Sr. and Lena Watkins Hollowell. He was a 1949 graduate of Little Rock High School, a graduate of the University of Texas, and a graduate of UALR with a degree in History, a subject he loved. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves, then the U.S. Navy, retiring as a Lieutenant Commander after 20 years of service. Sam was a member of the Roland Masonic Lodge #508. He served with the West Pulaski Volunteer Fire Department for 25 years, and was a member of Winfield United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Barbara Lynn Hollowell; sister, Frances Rowland of Amarillo, Texas; nephews, Daniel Lynn of Ankeny, Iowa and Mathew Sneed (Stacey) of Norman, Oklahoma; great-nephew, Kolten Sneed of Norman; great-nieces, Kaila Freeman of Bonita Springs, Florida and Danielle Lynn, of Naples, Florida; and great-great-nieces, Parker and Peyton Freeman. Visitation will be Monday, January 14 from 6-8 p.m. at Little Rock Funeral Home, 8801 Knoedl Ct. (NW corner I-630 and Barrow Rd.). Services are Tuesday, January 15 at 10 a.m. at Winfield United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Vida Williams. Interment will follow at St. Paul Cemetery near Gravel Hill.
