Alvern Porterfield

Alvern Louise Scrimshire Porterfield passed away January 10, 2019. She was born October 17, 1933 in Tulipdale, Arkansas. Mrs. Porterfield graduated from Benton High School in 1950. She worked at Reynold's Metals Company as payroll supervisor and in the computer department as both operator and programmer. Mrs. Porterfield was preceded in death by her husband, James Burton (J.B.) Porterfield; her father, Franklin Lavern Scrimshire; her mother, Elsie Tate Scrimshire; her grandson, Paul Colin Porterfield and her half-brothers Doyle, James Quincy (J.Q.), and Dwain Elder. Surviving are her son, Larry F. Porterfield and his wife Peg, her granddaughter, Allison Porterfield, her step-grandsons. David and John Cowden, and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at Ashby Funeral Home Sunday, January 13th from 6-8 p.m. The Memorial Service will be at Ashby Funeral Home Monday, January 14th at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.
