Mary Cerise Bartholomew of Rogers, Arkansas went to be with her beloved Lord and Savior, Sunday morning, January 13, 2019, peacefully at home surrounded by loving family members singing her favorite hymns. She was born January 19, 1928, to William McKinley Van Pelt and Mary Itasca (Levall) in Detroit, Michigan. She grew up in Michigan. She graduated from Kalkaska High School in 1946. She met Les Bartholomew of Kalkaska, Michigan the love of her life in the 4-H program. They married and were blessed with ten children. She enjoyed worshiping God and praying. She was always very active in her church life. She most recently worshiped at Bible Missionary Church. She loved horses, working outside in her vegetable garden and with composting, harvesting and preserving foods. She was truly a pioneer spirited woman. She loved her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. She is survived by eight of her ten children, Linda (Chuck Sutley), Laura (Dave Fellencer), Patsy (Bill Hardin), Al, Mark (Sharon), Paul (Yvonne), John (Kim), Deb (Janice LeBrie) Bartholomew; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; brother Frank; and sister, Ethel (Chase). Cerise is preceded in death by her loving husband, Les, of nearly 60 years; her parents; son, James Andrew; daughter, Mary Esther; brother, William Van Pelt; sisters, Eleanor (Avery), Daisy Ellen (Livingston) and Nancy Van Pelt. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services, 2898 West Walnut, Rogers, Arkansas. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2019 at Bible Missionary Church, 3201 North 13th Rogers, Arkansas, with Rev. Jim Roberts officiating. There will be a private family interment at a later time. Memorial contributions can be made to her favorite mission.
