Charles Mathis Jr. passed to his heavenly home on January 20, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 24, 1937 to the late Charles "Sneaky" Mathis Sr. and Ethel Stewart. Charlie was preceded in death by infants, John Charles and Sara Marie Mathis. Charlie served in the Navy and retired from the NLR Post Office after 43 years. He was an avid reader, fan of the NFL, and enjoyed fishing.
Charlie is survived by the love of his life, Kathryn Diane Mathis, his wife of sixty-one years; sons, Charles Mathis III (Sarah) and Michael Mathis (Sherri); grandsons, Charles Mathis IV, Jack Mathis, Kevin (Kristin) Butler and Patrick (Becca) Butler; great-grandson, Caleb; sister, Loraine Jenkins; and brother, Al (Peggy) Mathis.
