Glenda Lee Wright

Glenda Lee Wright, 77, of Bentonville, Arkansas left to be with the Lord Monday, January 21, 2019 while surrounded by her family. She was born April 30, 1941 in Big Spring, Texas to Charles Alton Denton and Mattie Miller Denton. Glenda was married to C. Roy Wright on December 25, 1959. Together they raised three sons, and dearly loved and supported their grandsons and granddaughter in all their activities. They were married for 51 years. Glenda was a devout Christian woman, and was a member of the Bella Vista Church of Christ. Glenda spent her life serving others. She began working in the Medical Arts hospital in Big Spring early in her life. She was the fifth woman in Texas to become a certified firefighter, and served as the firefighter/EMT in Big Lake, Texas. She returned to nursing and spent 20 years as a critical care nurse at the V.A. Hospital in Big Spring, Texas. Following a move to northwest Arkansas, she continued as a nurse at St. Mary's in Rogers, Ark. and the current Mercy Health hospital in Rogers before retiring. In her spare time, Glenda pursued her passion of flowering plants. Countless hours were spent in her backyard growing and caring for all kinds of plants, creating a stunning canvas of color. She was a Master Gardener in Benton County, Ark. for 15 years, where she helped with various beautification projects around Benton County, including the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville, Ark. Glenda was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two sons, Jim Bob and Joe Don Wright. She is survived by one son, Jon Wright and wife, Kathy of Rogers Ark.; one sister, Martha Hall of Midland, Texas; one brother, Terry Denton and wife, Vicki of Big Spring, Texas; four grandchildren, Zac Wright, Josh Wright, Brantley Wright and Payton Wright, and several nephews and nieces. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 25, 2019 at 10 a.m., at the Bella Vista Church of Christ, with Minister Randall Caselman officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to The Botanical Gardens of the Ozarks, Fayetteville, Ark. at bgozarks.org/give/.
