Charles Wayne Pickell, 90, passed from this life on January 23, 2019. He entered this world on November 10, 1928 in Row, Oklahoma and was raised in Colcord. He was the son of James Edgar Pickell and Mary Elizabeth (Blocker) Pickell. He passed in Hollister, Missouri where he had recently moved to be closer to family. He joined the United States Air Force in 1948 and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska and San Antonio, Texas. He married Louise McJunkin on December 1, 1951. Charles retired from Cobb Vantress in Siloam Springs after 28 years of employment. He loved the outdoors and was an avid bird and deer hunter. Over the years he raised many dogs and had some prize ones that placed in field trials. He loved horses, going to the horse races, and belonged to the Siloam Springs Riding Club. Charles was a long time resident of Siloam Springs and loved to frequent area cafes to drink coffee with his friends. Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 49 years, three brothers, George, Henry and Karl, and two sisters Katherine Curns and Mae Welch. He is survived by two daughters, Charlcie Pickell Tabor and husband Larry of Mt. Home, Arkansas, daughter, Tami Pickell Riley and husband Kevin of Hollister, Missouri; three grandsons, Benjamin Tabor and wife Myka, Ryan Mayo and wife Kalen, Christopher Riley, five great-grandchildren, and one brother, Frank Pickell of Conway, Arkansas. Visitation will be at Wasson Funeral Home, Siloam Springs, Arkansas on Saturday, January 26, from 1 to 3 p.m. A private committal will follow visitation.
