Richard C. Putnam

Richard C. Putnam, 82, formerly of Hutchinson, died January 22, 2019, at his home. He was born January 23, 1936, in Hutchinson, to Carle Crawford and Lucile Evora (Stevens) Putnam. Richard graduated from Manuel High School in Denver, Colorado in 1954. He served in the United States Navy. Richard was a farmer and hydraulic engineer for Eaton. He was of the Methodist faith. On September 14, 1968, he married Elenora E. (Fruehauf) Porter in Hutchinson. Richard is survived by: his wife of 50 years, Elenora; son, Randall Brewer, both of Searcy, Arkansas; brother, Ronald Putnam of Jacksonville, Ark.; sister-in-law, Judith Putnam of Woodbury, N.J.; nephews; Andrew Putnam (Regina) of Woodbury, N.J., Timothy Putnam (Suzie) of West Deptford, N.J.; great-niece, Abigail Putnam of Woodbury, N.J.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, the Reverend Ramon Putnam. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2019, at Elliott Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with the family present from 2 to 4 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Arkansas Hospice, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, Kan. 67501.
