Marva Ann Wood, 85, died Friday, January 25, 2019 at the Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale. She was born on June 12, 1933, in Japton, Arkansas to Claude and Nettie Harriman Combs. Marva Ann was a graduate of Fayetteville High. She worked in the nursing profession for 20 years in Memphis and West Memphis before opening Marva Ann's Wedding and Catering Service in West Memphis. While living in West Memphis, she became a member of the Missouri Street Church of Christ and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and working with the teen and senior groups. She was a member of the Chamber of Commerce and of the Quota Club where she served several terms as president. After moving to Fayetteville she joined the Center Street Church of Christ where she worked with the seniors and widows ministries. She also became a member of the Washington County Home Extension Service and served as president of the Habberton Club for many years. In her leisure time she enjoyed Razorback sports, playing bridge, watching westerns and cooking for family and friends. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Charles S. Wood of the home; two sons, Chuck Wood (Janet) of Memphis, Tennessee and Terry Wood of Springdale, Arkansas; two grandchildren Chip Wood (Ana) of Hope Mills, North Carolina and Jill Lambert (Matt) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; three great grandsons, Wylen , Ray and Jack ; two great-granddaughters, Aspen and Hayden; one brother, Bill Combs of Fayetteville; and one sister, Marlene Ray (Jim) of Japton. She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, George Combs, Chester Combs and Marjorie Combs Umburger. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Roller-Citizens Funeral Home of West Memphis, Arkansas with burial following at Crittenden Memorial Park in Marion, Ark. A Memorial Service will be held at Center Street Church of Christ at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 2, 2019.
