Thomas Wade Fincher

Thomas Wade Fincher, age 77, passed away on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Willard Walker Hospice in Fayetteville. He was born on April 29, 1941, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, to George Wade and Gladys Iola (Dixon) Fincher. He is preceded in death by his parents; and his uncle, Elza Fincher. Tom graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1959 and then entered the Army National Guard later that year where he participated in active duty training as well as inactive training weekends. Tom had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and was a dedicated member at Wiggins Methodist Church and then Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville where he served as an usher as well as serving in the community meals program. He had a love of cars and motorcycles and he participated in motorcycle races where he earned many trophies. He retired from Southwestern Bell after thirty years of service. Out of his faith he lived a life of love to his children, family, friends and many acquaintances whose lives he impacted and greatly blessed. He is survived by his three children, Janice Baird and husband Grant of Bella Vista, Mitch Fincher and wife Linda of Centerton, and Matt Fincher and wife Tara of Bella Vista; the mother of his children, Julia Baker Pelley; his sister, Joann Prosser and husband Mike of Burlington, Iowa; his brother, Chuck Fincher and wife Carol of Springdale; three grandchildren, Jonas, Katy Lee and Keeton Fincher; numerous nieces and nephews; and a very dear friend, Lorna Wilson. A visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Central United Methodist Church at 6 W. Dickson Street, Fayetteville, Ark. 72701. Interment will follow immediately at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville.
