Jessie Frances "Frankie" Goza

Jessie Frances (Frankie) Goza, age 90, passed away Friday, June 28, 2019 at The Plaza in Arkadelphia. She was born November 6, 1928. in Garnett, Kan., to the late Ruth Peterson and Frank Porter. Frankie graduated in 1947 from PS68 High School in Washington, D.C. She received her bachelor's in Art and English and her master's in Education and Special Education at Henderson State University. She worked at the Human Development Center as an Art teacher for 33 years. During that time, she received the Arkansas Art teacher of the Year award. Frankie was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Arkadelphia and was an active member of the Ruth Circle. She had a love of art, reading, and traveling the world. Frankie always said her claim to fame was having six children; and, those who knew her best, knew her greatest passion was loving her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard Paul Goza and son James Barry Goza. Survivors include daughter, Dixie Pennington and husband Clyde of Ashdown; daughter, Vicki Hughes and husband Terry of Gurdon; son John Goza of Arkadelphia; daughter Shellie Stroud and husband Larry of Gurdon; son David Goza of Bismarck. Grandchildren, Lisa (Pennington) Simpson, Michael Pennington, Eric Hughes, Jason Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Tara (Hughes) Beaver, Amber (Goza) Johnson, Sydney (Goza) Swayze, Keri (Stroud) Rutherford, Blake Stroud, Kelby (Goza) Hughes and Keyton Goza. 24 great- grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Monday, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home. Graveside service will follow at Rose Hedge Cemetery in Gurdon. Services officiated by Pastor Kenny Beaver. Pallbearers are Eric Hughes, Jason Hughes, Ryan Hughes, Michael Pennington, Blake Stroud, Hunter Pennington. The family expresses special gratitude to Red Springs Missionary Baptist Church, New Caney Missionary Baptist Church, First United Methodist Church of Arkadelphia, and The Plaza for their hospitality, and care for Gran and her family.
