Stanton A. McGill, Jr., 78, of Little Rock, passed away on June 28, 2019. He was born September 29, 1940, in Evansville, Ind. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and Stanton A. McGill, Sr.; his sister, Pamela Anderson; and his beloved wife of 54 years, Jean McGill. He is survived by his daughter, Shannon McGill. He was a clinical social worker for over 35 years, serving for many years on the faculty at UAMS. He always maintained a deep respect for the dedicated UAMS staff. Stan was a rare true gentleman, exhibiting kindness, integrity, and gentleness every day. He was a devoted husband and father with a tender heart from God, expressing his love for his family daily. Everyone who knew him spoke of his genuinely sweet nature. He also had an impish sense of humor, joking with his nurses and family until his last day at the hospital. He was a man of intelligence and an avid reader with an interest in archaeology, history, and science. His interest in archaeology led to many searches for Native American artifacts over the years and involvement in the archaeological society. He was also a music lover with a depth of knowledge of all genres of music but with a special interest in classical and jazz music. Stan faced heath challenges throughout his adult life but fought and overcame every obstacle so that he could be there for his family. He will be loved always and missed greatly. Special thanks must be given to the doctors and nurses at Baptist Hospital for their exceptional care and valiant efforts to save his life. Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Friday, July 5th, at Ruebel Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held in his honor. Arrangements are by Ruebel Funeral Home.
