Mary Frances Carpenter, 93, of North Little Rock, died Monday, July 1, 2019, at Springhill Baptist Hospital in North Little Rock. Mrs. Carpenter was a native of Hamburg and a resident of North Little Rock for the past six years. She and her husband, Billy, were former residents of Hamburg for many years and late in their life, they followed their children and grandchildren to reside in Monticello and then Greenbrier. Mrs. Carpenter was a homemaker and worked for the Arkansas Department of Human Services. She was a member of the Bono Baptist Church in Greenbrier and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Hamburg for many years. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Billy R. Carpenter in 2010; two sons-in-law, Howard Sanderlin and Mike Scallion; her parents, Homer & Bertha Hobson Hall; a brother, Herman Hall; and four sisters, Vivian Walker, Inez Watkins, Lois Mercer, and Reba Minugh. She is survived by her daughters, Jeanette Sanderlin of North Little Rock and Shirley Scallion of Greenbrier. Mrs. Carpenter was affectionately known as "Mamaw" to her grandchildren, Jason Sanderlin and wife, Lisa, Julie Sanderlin and Kara Brooks; and her seven great-grandchildren, Joel Webb, Bogie Webb, Will Sanderlin, Addison Sanderlin, Laney Deal, Peyton Greiner and Brody Greiner. Everyone was welcome at her home or table, no invitation required, and no exceptions. She was beloved by all who knew her, and for decades her home was the destination of a very large extended family on every Thanksgiving. She was the very embodiment of Genesis 2:18 "It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him." She never failed to care for her husband and family and routinely got up well before dawn to make certain no one left home without a hot breakfast. Graveside services are 4 p.m., Friday, July 5, 2019, in Pinewood Memorial Park with Dr. Bobby Pennington officiating. Honorary pallbearers are her great-grandchildren, Joel Webb, Bogie Webb, Will Sanderlin, Addison Sanderlin, Laney Deal, Peyton Greiner, and Brody Greiner. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Hamburg, PO Box 352, Hamburg, Ark. 71646 or to a charity of the donor's choice. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Jones-Hartshorn Funeral Home of Hamburg, Ark. Online guestbook at www.jones-hartshorn.com. Visitation is 2-3 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
