Robert Lee Smith

Robert Lee Smith, 86, of Bentonville, died on July 1, 2019, at Mercy Hospital of Rogers, Ark. He was born January 19, 1933, in Goltry, Okla., to Elmer and Jessie Smith. Robert married his wife Dorothy on April 9, 1955, and spent much of his life in Enid, Okla., before finally settling in Northwest Arkansas. He served in the U.S. Air Force as Airman 1st Class of the Strategic Air Command (S.A.C.), and he worked as a body shop repair man. He enjoyed working on clocks, fishing, watching westerns, and remembering the time he starred in the 1955 movie "Strategic Air Command" featuring Jimmy Stewart. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Jessie; and his son, Frank L. Smith. Robert is survived by his wife, Dorothy Smith; son, Robert L. Smith Jr; daughters, Deborah Pennington (Virgle) of Springfield, Tenn., Patricia Trekell of Hays, Kan., and Michelle Childress (Paul) of Gravette, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Memorial service is planned for Saturday, July 6, 2019, at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14190 AR-102 Gravette, Ark. Pastor Jheri Roberts will be officiating.
