Michael Dale "Grampy" Gibson, age 72, of Hot Springs, died Wednesday, July 3, 2019. He was born on July 22, 1946, in Leonard, Arkansas, the son of Melvin Dale Gibson and Verenda "Mickey" Hyde Gibson. On July 22, 1966, he married Brenda Benson. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Tommy Joe Gibson. Mike was a member of Hot Springs Baptist Church. A Vietnam and Gulf War veteran, he retired from the United States Air Force with the rank of Major. Mike also worked for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for 35 years, where he retired as the Deputy Director. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Gibson of Hot Springs; his son and daughter-in-law, Brandon and Yanci Gibson of Conway; his daughter and son-in-law, Crystal and Cory Engen of Cedar Park, Texas; four grandchildren, Audrey Roe, Taylor Engen, Conley Gibson and Cooper Gibson; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Kathie Benson of Paragould; Tommy Joe's children, Sarah, Anna and Jesse; and a host of wonderful friends. Visitation will be 11 a.m., until service time, at the church. Memorial services will be 12 noon, Monday, in the Hot Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Manley Beasley and Rev. Mike Smith officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Hot Springs. Memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans, American Heart Association or the Arkansas Baptist Children's Home.
