Lou was born July 10, 1943 to Don and Fairy (Kemp) Burgess in Searcy, Ark. She is survived by cousins Sam Rhodes of Mountain Home, Judy Phillips and Billie (Herb) Fendley of Clinton and many other loving relatives and friends.
Lou lived most of her life in Clinton. She graduated from Clinton high School and from the University of Central Arkansas with a Masters in Elementary Education. She taught school in Hughes, Ark for several years.
She was a member of the Clinton United Methodist Church, two bridge clubs and the Iris Garden Club. She drove friends to appointments and activities and with her friend, Mildred Thompson she enjoyed world-wide travel. She loved her classmates, never missing a high school reunion, and made her close friends happy by sending them roses on special occasions.
One of her happiest times was sitting around Judy's kitchen table, visiting with family and friends and eating her favorite meal of fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Clinton United Methodist Church at 167 Joe Bowling Road, Clinton Ark., 72031 or to your favorite charity. Arrangements are entrusted to Roller McNutt Funeral Home, Clinton, Ark. To sign guest book www.rollerfuneralhomes.com/clinton.
