Martha B. Thornton

Martha B. Thornton, age 95, of Benton, passed away on July 6, 2019. Martha was born on May 8, 1924, in Ruston, La., to Harris Stephen and Nancy (Richardson) Bryant. Martha was a member of Plainview First Baptist Church, Plainview, Ark. (Yell County). She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband E.B. Thornton (of 56 years), sister Mary B. Simpson of Ruston, La., two brothers: Thomas Bryant of Henderson, Texas, and Brooks Bryant, Sr. of Ruston, La.; four grandchildren: Shay Thornton, Scott Bauman, Tammy Bauman Belcher and Tony Thornton; son-in-law, Lennie Bauman; and two nephews, E.J. Doucett of Ruston, La., and Jimmy Bryant of Minden, La. Martha is survived by her children: Quinn Thornton (Cissy), Danny Thornton (Donna), Dorothy Thornton Bauman, and Mary Lou Thornton Bland (Mike); nieces: Gloria Dean Shelby of Alexandria, La., Neila Hobby of North Little Rock, June Skinner of Austin, Ark.; and nephew Brooks Bryant of Ruston, La. Martha was known as "Granny" by her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Special thanks to Arkansas Hospice. Graveside Service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Edgewood Memorial Park, North Little Rock with Pastor Chris Garner officiating.
