Miriam T. Davis, known by all family and friends as "Mammy" or "Mrs. Whit", while surrounded by her closest family, passed away on July 18, 2019, with the same peacefulness and grace in which she lived her life. Born on December 2, 1914, in Gloster, Miss., Mammy wore many different hats during her 104 years; daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, teacher, business owner, and friend. She was the family matriarch. Those who knew her, knew of her quick wit, loving and caring spirit, generosity, forgiving nature, kindness and gracefulness that she always exuded. Although she will be dearly missed, her example of how to live a good life along with her life-lessons will live on through all that were touched by her love and southern charm. Well done "Mams", well done! On April 1, 1953, Mammy and her husband Whit established Whit Davis Lumber Company in Jacksonville, Ark. Today, Whit Davis Lumber Plus is still a family owned business serving many customers out of four locations in Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Albert Whitfield "Whit" Davis, and by her only daughter, Sue Davis Hobdy. Mammy is survived by her son, John A. Davis (Sue), Cabot, Ark.; six grandchildren, Marty H. Bell (Tim), Madison, Miss.; Susan Hoyle (Les), Southaven, Miss.; Will Hobdy (Theresa), Madison, Miss.; Stacy Millar, Cabot, Ark.; Dan Davis, Jacksonville, Ark.; Paul Davis (Sherrie), North Little Rock, Ark.; along with ten great-grandchildren, and four (and a half) great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services are being conducted through Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Funeral Home in North Little Rock, AR. A visitation service will be held on Saturday July 20, 2019, from 4-6 p.m. at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills on 7724 Landers Road, North Little Rock, Ark. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 21, 2019, at First United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, Ark., immediately followed by an interment service at Griffin Leggett Rest Hills Memorial Park in North Little Rock, Ark. Memorials can be made to Arkansas Children's Hospital or to the Jacksonville Care Channel. To share a memory of Mrs. Davis with her family visit www.griffinleggettresthills.com
