Jerry Monroe Sheridan

Jerry Monroe Sheridan of Garfield, Arkansas, age 86, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at his residence. He was born on August 6, 1932 in Warrensburg, Missouri to Paul Monroe Sheridan and Martha (Roberts) Sheridan. Jerry was a lifelong railroad man having worked for Katy Railroad and later Union Pacific for his entire professional career. Jerry had anything but a quiet retirement as he was constantly on the move. Besides his numerous busy projects, he served multiple terms as Justice of the Peace in Benton County, Arkansas. One duty as Justice of the Peace that Jerry took particular pride in was presiding over marriage processions, including that of his own step-son. Jerry was actively involved with the Northeast Benton County Volunteer Fire Department (Nebco), where he was everything from a volunteer fireman to an administration consultant. He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul Monroe Sheridan and Martha (Roberts) Sheridan; children, Patricia Sheridan Durdin and James Monroe Sheridan; and brothers Paul Robert Sheridan and Wallace Gene Sheridan. He is survived by his wife, Aileen Margaret Sheridan; daughter, Nancy S. Haight, step-children, Angela Lynn Powell and Matthew Elhanan Powell; brother, Thomas Mac Sheridan; sister, Dorothy Ann Osborne; six grand-children and eight great-grandchildren. Visitation will be at 10 a.m. with the funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, July 26, 2019, at Boundless Grace Baptist Church in Rogers, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boundless Grace Baptist Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services of Rogers.
