Mamie ran a grocery store on River Street known as "Mamie's" for around 60 years. Many students visited Mamie's for cokes and candy before and after school. Mamie was preceded in death by her husband, T.W. "Chiz" Chisholm; her parents, Virgil and Josie; brothers, Ralph, Ruff, Watt, Lacy and Bob; and sisters, Vera and Lucy. Mamie is survived by a brother, Jim Landers (Deegy); sister-in-law, Lea Landers; nephews, John Landers, Nick Landers, Steve Landers, Lance Landers, Jim Crawford, Dave Crawford and Jeff Lorenzo; and nieces, JoNell Mallory, Lisa McGuire, Sharon Landon, Denise McNeill and Melissa Goins; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Mamie had no children of her own. However, she played "mother" to thousands of school children, while also helping to raise brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and even friends. Mamie passed away peacefully Monday morning. She was determined and looking forward to October when she would turn "100."
