Vernon Lee Tatum, 89 of Memphis, Tenn. was born July 25, 1929 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas to Gus & Blanche Tatum. Vernon served and retired from the U.S. Army. He was one of many who helped aide in the Korean War in the 1950's. He met and married Ida Mae Bradley in the late 1950's and they had their five children. He departed this life on July 19, 2019. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Ida Mae; grandsons, Charles Chaten and Owen Damar Harvey; siblings, William D. Tatum, Morris Tatum, Gussie Tatum-Bell, Morris Tatum, & Emma Tatum. He leaves to carry on his memory his five children, Kaleem Muhammad, Leo Tatum, Verna (Richard) Tatum-Mitchell, Beverly Tatum-Davidson (Terrance"Ted"), Diane M. Nix; 21 grandchildren, an abundance of great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, his sister Bessie Tatum-Butler, sister-in- law, Francis Tatum, and niece, Freddie B. Tatum-Jolivette & a host of other relatives & friends. Visitation: Thursday, July 25, 2019 6-7 p.m. Homegoing celebration Friday July 26, 2019, 10 a.m. Both held at Superior Funeral Services, 5017 E.
