John Dennis Fitzgerald, 77, of Sherwood, died Wednesday, July 24, 2019. He was born to the late Elmer Raymond and Amanda Ruth (Edwards) Fitzgerald on August 12, 1941 in Sheridan, Arkansas. He is also preceded in death by brother-in-law, Jack Bunch.
Dennis graduated from Sheridan High School, then attended Ouachita Baptist College (University), where he met the love of this life, June Tinsley. After graduating Dennis and June were married and both became teachers in the Pulaski County Special School District. Dennis went on to receive his Master's Degree at the University of Arkansas. After several years of teaching, he became Assistant Principal, then a year later, Principal of Sylvan Hills High School in Sherwood. Later he became Director of Secondary Education for the school district. He was serving in this position at the time of his retirement. Dennis was a member of Park Hill Baptist Church, NLR, and active in the Dockins Sunday School class.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 56 years, June Tinsley Fitzgerald; sons, Todd Andrew Fitzgerald of Sherwood, John Michael Fitzgerald (Leah) of Sherwood; grandchildren, John, Liam, Luke Fitzgerald all of Sherwood; sister, Ruth Bunch of North Little Rock; brothers, Raymond Fitzgerald, Jr. (Viola), Dr. Paul Fitzgerald (Penny) of Hot Springs Village; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral Service will be 2 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Park Hill Baptist Church, 201 East C Ave, North Little Rock, Ark. 72116. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
