Richard Edward "Dick" Busby, 82, passed away July 26, 2019 in Germantown, Tenn. Dick was born September 6, 1936 to Clarence and Helen Busby. Dick began his police career as a City Policeman in Forrest City, Ark., for a few years before becoming a member of the Arkansas State Police. He served with the Arkansas State Police reaching the rank of corporal. He was elected Sheriff of Crittenden County in 1989 and served in that position for 21 years until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of Marion United Methodist Church. During his time as Sheriff he received the 'Distinguished Service Award' from Arkansas Sheriff's Association, 'Community Service Award' from Marion Lodge #686, was a member of the Lions Club, a member of the Marion Rotary Club, East Arkansas Peace Officers Association member and served time in the National Guard. Dick was an avid golfer for many years and was proud of having at least 3 holes in one. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Shannon Fogg Busby of Marion, Ark.; his children: Christy Archer (Ted), Marty Smith, and Rich Busby, all of Marion, Ark.; his grandchildren: Justin Mancil, Erica Archer East, Micah Archer Jones, Palmer Archer Walker, Hayden Archer, Ryce Smith, and Kayleigh Busby; his great-grandchildren: Kyah, Annalise, Braylin, Ella, and Ida Mancil. He is preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Busby, and his sister, Barbara Nell Key.
