Julia Harrison Cavness

Julia Harrison Cavness, 89, long-time resident of Bella Vista, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at the Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville on Wednesday July 24, 2019.
Julia Harrison, the youngest of seven, was born on March 30, 1930 to Luther and Tommie Lee Harrison in Bentonville. Julia grew up in Bentonville and was a 1948 graduate of Bentonville High School, where she was honored to be named Homecoming Queen. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and returned home to work for her father at Harrison's 5c and 10c on the town square and marry her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Jack William Cavness, also of Bentonville. Jack and Julia married in 1951. During the early years of their 62 year marriage, Jack served in the US Navy, and they lived from Maryland to California before returning to Bentonville. Julia gave birth to son Jack in 1954 and son Jared five years later.
Julia's professional career included service at the state capitol in Jefferson City, Missouri and as a registrar at Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri. Dedicated to her children, Julia enjoyed their family travels, especially numerous adventures in the family travel trailer across the entire country. Jack and Julia spent their retirement years in Bella Vista, enjoying life with family and lifelong friends nearby. Julia was an avid bridge player while Jack enjoyed golf and they were both especially proud of Jack's hole-in-one and double eagle.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack, who passed in October 2013; and her siblings Ed, Tom, Mary Helen, William, Dora Catherine and Roy. Julia is survived by her two sons and their families; Dr. Jack Harrison Cavness, his wife, Debbie, and son, Chad and Jared William Cavness, his wife, Pamela and their sons, Jeb and Jace; and many other cherished Harrison and Cavness family members.
Memorial and Interment at Bentonville Cemetery at 4 p.m. Thursday, August 1 followed by a reception for family and friends at the home of Sarah and Don Kendall at 3 South Hampton Place in Rogers.
