Vernon Wesley Strickland Jr

Vernon Wesley Strickland Jr., 62, of Lonoke passed away Monday, July 29, 2019. He was born April 24, 1957 to the late Vernon Wesley Strickland, Sr. and Josephine Walker Strickland. He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha Strickland and sisters, Bonnie Holden, Bernice Strickland and Margaret Colbert. Vernon was a member of Grace Chapel Baptist Church and was employed by the Cabot School District. He loved dancing, fishing, the Razorbacks and his grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Chris Wheelis and Brandy Nichols; grandchildren, Taylor Nichols and Tiffany Nichols; siblings, Joey Strickland, Frances Grigsby, Wesley Strickland, Doyle Strickland, Patricia Babb, Kenny Strickland, Robert Strickland (Kathy), Tommy Strickland (Debbie), and Sherry Graessle (Art); as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be at Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral service will be at Grace Chapel Baptist Church Thursday, August 1, 2019 at 11 a.m. followed by burial at Short Cemetery at Butlerville.
