John Fredrick Forster Jr.

John Fredrick Forster Jr., son of John Fredrick Forster and Julia Davis Forster, was born December 18, 1942, in Corsicana, Texas, and passed away at his home in Lexington, Virginia, on May 7, 2019. He is preceded in death by his parents. John was a devoted and generous husband, father, friend, coach, professor, and public servant. Along with many friends and students, he is survived by his wife, Jane Lee Forster, and four children, Laurie Collmer Sanders, Christopher Mark Forster, Robert Davis Forster, II, and Thomas Henry Lee Forster. Eight grandchildren, Christopher, Chelsea, Dalia, Hallie, Carter Jane, Hannah, Ella, and Jack, and a beloved brother, Robert Davis Forster, also grieve his passing. Well done, thou good and faithful servant. A funeral liturgy in celebration of John's life will be held at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral on Friday, June 7, 2019, at 2 p.m., with a reception following in Morrison Hall at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of our Saviour Episcopal, 1165 Rio Road East, Charlottesville, Va. 22901; Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 310 West 17th Street, Little Rock, Ark. 72206; or Project Horizon, 120 Varner Lane, Lexington, Va. 24450.
