Alfred "Al" B. Tanner

Alfred "Al" B. Tanner, age 76, of Fayetteville passed away Thursday June 6, 2019 in Fayetteville. He was born July 23, 1942 in Galveston, Texas the son of Samuel Beaty and Amy Edwards Tanner. He was preceded in death by his parents. He worked for the USDA forest service for 28 years and was a Veteran United States Air Force, He loved to sail, take pictures and entertain crowds with stories and jokes. After his retirement he worked in the photo department at Walmart on Martin Luther King for 10 years. He is survived by his wife Carolyn; a son Drew Tanner and his wife Julie of Lexington, Virginia; a daughter Amy Tanner of Floyd, Virginia; a step-son Joe Kirk and his wife Deanna of Fayetteville; seven grandchildren Madeline, Arlo, Cadence, Hayden, Marcus, Samaya and Harrison; two sisters Joyce Tanner of Boston, Massachusetts and Joan Baldwin of Cashmere, Washington and one brother Kenneth Tanner of Dayton, Ohio. Visitation will be held 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Monday June 10, 2019 at Moore's Chapel. Graveside Service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Farmington Cemetery under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
