Brenda C Lakey

Brenda C Lakey daughter of the late Huston S. and Mildred L. (Bolin) Hankins was born Aug 4 1948 in San Diego, Calif. She departed this life on June 8, 2019 at her home in Mabelvale Ark. at the age of 70 years. Brenda worked in the retail business most of her life and loved her job and most of all her customers. Her favorite pass time was crocheting. She made many blankets, scarfs, baby items, hats, etc for family and friends. She loved playing board games with the kids. Any time she could get a chance to spend time at the ocean or the lake she was there. She loved to play music and dance. Brenda was a devoted loving mother and grandma. The holiday seasons were always her favorite time to decorate and fix big meals for the family. She had a way to make everyone feel special. She is survived by three sons, James Lakey, Kevin (Jayme) Lakey, Danny Lakey all of Mabelvale, Ark.; seven grandchildren, Sean (Kayla) Lakey, Chelsea Lakey, Justin Lakey all of Mabelvale, Ark., Shannon (Martin) Roswell, North Little Rock, Ark., Brandi (Todd) Thornberry, Bearden Ark., Darren (Holly) White of Lonoke, Ark., Shelbi (Ben) Wiltz, Mammoth Spring, Ark., 14 great-grandchildren; two brothers, David Hankins, Sparks, Nevada, Phil Hankins, San Diego, Calif., one sister, Shirley Hankins, San Diego, Calif. and many nieces, nephews and cousins along with other close family and friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Bobby Hankins. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Pinecrest Funeral Home in Alexander, Arkansas. Private burial will be at a later date at the Liberty Cemetery in Adona, Ark. beside her previous in-laws Mama and Poppa Lakey that she always looked up to as her own and always held very close to her heart.
