Earl Bond

Earl Gene Bond of Little Rock, 82, passed away June 6 after a brief illness. Originally from Fort Smith, Earl worked in many positions over the years including the insurance industry and personal financial management firms around Knoxville, Tennessee and central Arkansas. Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Earl Jasper and Irene Bond of Fort Smith. He is survived by a sister, Kaay Burris of Franklin, Tennessee and three children, Bryan Bond of Kansas City, Missouri, Brooks Bond of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Jamie Banks of Fayetteville, Arkansas. In addition, Earl had seven grandchildren; Brett, Stuart, Tate, and Leeanna Bond and Olivia, Mary Helen and David Banks II. Earl attended the University of Arkansas on a track scholarship and served in the United States Army. While at the University, Earl was a three year letterman from 1956-1958 and he was the U.S. Army Pentathlon Champion in 1962. Earl was eventually inducted into the Arkansas Track and Field Hall of Fame. Earl was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral and an avid Razorback fan. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to the Razorback Foundation, 1295 S. Razorback Road, Fayetteville, Ark. 7270.
