John Algie Bost, 89, of Pine Bluff, died Sunday, June 9, 2019. Mr. Bost was born November 6, 1929, in Lonoke County, to the late Ed and Mary Viola Davison Bost. He was reared and received his education in Jefferson County where he graduated from Plum Bayou High School as President of his class in 1947. He was very athletic and participated in many sports during high school. Mr. Bost owned and operated Bost Family Farm currently John A. Bost and Son Farm for 50 years. After retirement, he worked for McFarland Eye Clinic for 15 years. He was a longtime member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff. Mr. Bost was a Godly and family-oriented man. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Martha Sue Bost (whom he married April 29, 2006, in Pine Bluff); son, James (Grace) Bost of Wright, Arkansas; daughter, Juli Bost (Walt) Listuon of Mobile, Alabama; six grandchildren, Grace Elizabeth (Richie) Workman of Memphis, Tennessee, Rebecca Catherine (Ryan) Carwell of Jonesboro, Joanna (Dave) Rowell Dorsett of Perdido Key, Florida, Emily (Herb) Rowell Bullock of Mobile, Alabama, Mary Ellen Bost (Phillip) Doncer of North Little Rock, and Sarah Ann Bost of Little Rock; ten great-grandchildren; stepchildren, Brent Hall of Little Rock and Wesley Hall of Hot Springs, Lee Pearce, Gary Pearce, Mark Pearce and Nancy Pearce Tice, all of Pine Bluff; and his sister, Bessie Eskew of Sikeston, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, J.R. Bost and E.L. Bost; his sister, Frances Bost Whitehead; the mother of his children, June Gibbs Bost to whom he was married to for 49 years; and his second wife, Mary Lou Hall. Funeral services: Friday, 3 p.m., at First Baptist Church of Pine Bluff with Reverend Ken Thornton officiating with a visitation one hour prior to service time at church. Burial will be private.
