Betty Garrett Sekely of Perryville, passed away June 15, 2019. Betty was born September 16, 1930 to Herbert and Rossie Garrett in Bigelow, Arkansas. She graduated from Harmony Grove High School in Benton and went on to higher education graduating Magna Cum Laude from Black Hills State College in South Dakota and received a Masters Degree from Ouachita Baptist University. She taught English in South Dakota and Cabot Middle School. Betty was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her brother, Timothy (Nancy) Garrett of Bryant, and a sister, Joan Hearn of Benton; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Richard Garrett, and her husband of 56 years, Thomas Sekely.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at Harris Chapel with Bro. John Chapman officiating. Burial will be at Volman Cemetery by Harris Funeral Home of Morrilton. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Online guestbook: www.harrisfuneralhomes.net.
