Reba L. Malone

Reba Malone, age 94, of Jonesboro, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House of Jonesboro. She was born on October 1, 1924 in Blevins, Ark. in Hempstead County to the late Edgar and Nellie Leverett. She graduated from high school in Blevins in 1942. During WWII she attended beautician school in Little Rock and worked as a beautician in Hope during and after WWII. Reba married Charles Malone in January 1948 and lived on a naval ammunition depot in Camden during the 1950s with their two daughters. While in Camden she took courses in secretarial training. After moving to Little Rock in 1961 she worked for Pulaski County Special School District as a high school secretary and later as a secretary to the assistant superintendent. Mrs. Reba, as she was called by her husband of over 50 years, was a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a great cook and housekeeper and felt like her home was her "castle." She was an avid Razorback fan throughout the years and enjoyed watching them play regularly on TV. She especially loved her family and was so proud of her daughters and later her grandchildren. Reba was a lifelong dedicated member of the Church of Christ. In Jonesboro, she attended Nettleton Church of Christ and toward the end of her life she was a member of Valley View Church of Christ. She loved her church family, and her faith and the church were always a priority in her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Malone; a daughter, Peggy Ann Green; her parents; and a sister, Floyce Reynolds. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy Cravens and husband Johnny of Jonesboro; her sister, Ozelle Horner, of Kansas City, Mo.; three grandchildren, Chris Green (Carrie) of Dallas, Brett Cravens (Sarah Kaye) of Huntsville, Ala., Scott Cravens (Brianne) of Norman, Okla.; and one great-grandchild, Kenna Cravens. A celebration of her life, will be on Saturday, June 22 at Emerson Funeral Home with funeral at 10 a.m. and visitation from 9-10 a.m., with Johnny Cravens officiating. Graveside services will be at Forrest Hills Cemetery in Little Rock on Monday, June 24 at 12:30 p.m. with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
