James Raymond George, age 92, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away Thursday, June 20, 2019. He was born on July 9, 1926 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to Grover and Alice (Harbison) George. He was preceded in death by two wives, Betty George and Lucy George and two brothers, Eddie George and Sam George. James was a lifelong resident of Fayetteville and graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1944. He joined the Navy upon graduation and was very proud to be a World War II veteran. He retired from the Fayetteville Post Office after more than 30 years of service. James was a member of the First Christian Church in Fayetteville and the Lions Club. While he loved square dancing, golfing and bowling, he especially loved sharing the history of Fayetteville with others. Most of all, he loved his family and was a good friend to many people. Many of his children's friends considered him a father figure. He had a kind and generous heart and was always there when you needed him. He is survived by daughters Kerry George of Fayetteville, Kimberly Graves and her husband Chris of Bentonville, and son, Kevin George and his wife Patricia of Conway, Pam Skipper and her husband Tom of Springdale, Jackie Mohney and her husband Mike of Springdale, and Mike Hayes and his wife Marsha of Fayetteville; a sister, Anna Mae Stewart of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, David George and his wife Betty of Dallas, Texas; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Washington Regional Hospice for their support and kindness shown to our family. We appreciate the loving care that Dylan, Vicky, and Allen gave as they supported our dad during his illness. Visitation will be 5–7 p.m., Monday June 24, 2019 at Moore's Chapel. Funeral will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at First Christian Church in Fayetteville followed by burial at Fayetteville National Cemetery, under the direction of Moore's Chapel.
