Patricia Dawn (Frisk) DeLong

Patricia Dawn (Frisk) DeLong was born February 18, 1966 in Queens, New York, to Judith Gaye Landerholm and Edward Phillip Frisk. Patty was an Arkansas State Champion on her high school's diving team. She continued diving and also worked at her parent's restaurant while attending the University of Arkansas. Before graduation, she was offered a job in the Chicago area. Knowing they had the support of other family members, she and her husband to be packed up their belongings to move to Illinois after graduating. When her daughters were 11 and 14, Patty took a break from work to be a stay at home mom and support her husband's growing business. Once both daughters were in college, Patty returned to the workplace, now residing in Arkansas, at the Department of Revenue. After being diagnosed with ALS in 2017, Patty and her husband moved back to Illinois once again to be near their daughters. Patty was a devoted and loving mother, sister, and aunt and friend who loved spending time with her family more than anything. She enjoyed riding bikes, singing, swimming, camping, and the band U2. She will leave a void in the lives of everyone who knew her. Patty died in the early hours of June 18, 2019 at Adventist Bolingbrook Hospital surrounded by the love of her family from complications due to ALS after battling the disease for two and a half years. She is survived by her husband of 28 years, John DeLong. Survivors also include daughters Angela Luckett, and husband Melvin, of Romeoville Illinois and Megan DeLong, and fiance Alex Bal, of Bolingbrook Illinois. She is also survived by her sister Barbara Frisk of Farmington, Arkansas, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Services will be held on June 21 in Roselle, Illinois and June 30 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Donations can be made to the ALS Association of Chicago in her honor.
