Melvin McAdoo age 96, Benton, passed away on June 27, 2019. He was born November 9, 1922, in Haskell, Ark. to Richard and Lillian McAdoo. He graduated from Benton High School and entered the Army at age 20. He served our country during WWII as a sharpshooter in the Pacific Islands. After returning from the war, he met and married Wanda West, whom he lovingly referred to as "my girl" for 73 years. He is preceded in death by his infant son, Jimmie David McAdoo, and his sister, Everee Tallent. Melvin is survived by his wife, Wanda; his daughter Kathy Pelton (Jackie); his two granddaughters Jacqueline Vergason (Keith) and Karmen Landers (Steve, Jr.); five great grandchildren, Hannah Van Horn (Seth), Zane Vergason, Annika Landers, Tripp Landers and Aubree Landers; and one sister, Thelma Rider. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, July 2 at First Baptist Church Benton, Arkansas.
