Martha Earnestine Sanders, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at Prairie Grove Health & Rehab. She was born August 1, 1929 in Sheridan, Ark. to James and Mary Harper Cash. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.B. Sanders in 2014; five brothers; two sisters; and one grandson. Earnestine became a child of Christ at Lost Creek Baptist Church, July of 1941, in Sheridan. She was a member in good standing at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville for over 38 years. She spent many years working in restaurants and grocery stores until 1962 when she became a licensed hair dresser in the state of Arkansas. She then set-up and operated her own beauty shop for 44 years. Earnestine worked at and maintained a good list of clientele until December of 2006. She was a loving mother and wife. Her passions included gardening. Her hobbies included building several native stone flower beds and making ceramic figurine dolls. She had a very large collection of carousel horses and lighthouses. She enjoyed antiquing and quilting. Earnestine was always involved in everything that the kids participated in. She sat for hours in the sun at softball and baseball games. She also spent several freezing nights at football games. Earnestine was always active in the church anytime she could be. She taught Sunday school, AWANNAS and vacation bible school. Earnestine is survived by her four children, Jim Sanders of Fayetteville, Jená Vanhook and husband, Ron of West Fork, Jerry Sanders and wife, Patti of McKinney, Texas and Jay Sanders and wife, Sang of West Fork; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gertrude Carlton; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, March 4, 2019 at Beard's Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville with Pastors Gene Fulcher and Kirk Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Beard's Chapel.
