John "Hawk" Knox

John "Hawk" Knox of Lonoke, age 85, died Monday March 4, 2019 at Chambers Nursing Home in Carlisle, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his parents, John Theodore and Ava Marsh Knox, sisters Opal, Ruby and Jacqueline, brothers Clifton and William H. (Billie) Knox. He is survived by his daughter Stacy Knox Taylor and granddaughter, Katie Taylor, both of Little Rock, nieces and nephew, Diane Strickland, Charlie Knox and Pam Walls of Lonoke and Brenda Shirley of Greenwood. A lifelong resident of Lonoke, he was born March 25, 1933 in Lonoke County. He attended Lonoke High School where he excelled in football, basketball and track. After graduating in 1952, he was awarded a football scholarship to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Graveside services for family and friends will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Lonoke on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 1 p.m. Arrangements by Boyd Funeral Home, Lonoke. www.boydfuneralhome.net.
