Earl Norton

Earl Norton, Jr died February 21, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Rogers, Arkansas. He was born in Walnut, Iowa, on December 17, 1927, to Earl "Ted" Everett Norton Sr. and Irene Fern (Mickel) Norton. He graduated with the class of 1945 at Walnut Iowa High School. On May 13, 1951, he married Dolores Mae "Dee" Nielsen. Two daughters were born to this union, Ruth Ann and Debra Kay. Earl was a volunteer and member of Peace Lutheran Church, Rogers, Arkansas. Earl was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during the Korean War. While living in Macedonia, IA, he worked for Macedonia Implements (John Deere). In Rogers he worked for Walmart Distribution Centers, retiring after 15 years. Earl loved music, singing in the choir at church and was often found tapping his feet and humming along when music could be heard. Earl enjoyed tractors and farming. He loved to route their travels first in his pick-up camper later in their fifth wheel camper. In recent years you could find him watching The Lawrence Welk Show and Wheel of Fortune. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife. Survivors include; daughters, Ruth Ann Trembley (Frank) of Marietta, Georgia, Debra Kay Sweeten of Rogers; sisters, Shirley Witt (Don) of Brandon, Fla. and Marilyn Loring (Don) of Weslaco, Trexas; five grandchildren, Christina Rogers of Marietta, Georgia, Carrie Davis of Coronado, California, Ryan Davis of Crestone, Colorado, Holly Killbreth (James) of Gravette, Arkansas and Jona Burnett (Mike) of Bentonville, Arkansas; seven great-grandchildren, Zach Deatherage (Sierra), Fort Leonardwood, Missouri, and Tracy Ann Deatherage and Hayden Killbreth of Gravette, Arkansas, Emerson and Evan Rogers of Marietta, Georgia, Elijah and Abigail Burnett, Bentonville, Arkansas; one great-great-granddaughter Marina Deatherage; two step-grandsons and three step-great-granddaughters. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2019, at Peace Lutheran Church in Rogers. The family will receive visitors starting at 12 noon at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Peace Lutheran Church Food Pantry. 805 W. Olrich, Rogers, Ark. 72756. Cremation arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.
