Marilyn Eldridge Braswell, 83, of DeWitt died March 4, 2019. She was born August 11, 1935 in Lodges Corner to Howard and Trudie Gillcoatt Eldridge. Marilyn was the former secretary at First United Methodist Church, and had a passion for gardening, her church and community. She was a Master Gardner and was a member of the DeWitt Hospital and Nursing Home Auxiliary and Harvest of Hope. She was active in her daughters activities and was a Girl Scout leader. Marilyn was recognized as Good Neighbor of the Year by the DeWitt Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed mission trips to Costa Rica, Mexico, and Sager-Brown. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and her husband of 65 years, James Braswell. She is survived by her daughters Vickie Rabeneck of Fayetteville and Kim Nutt of DeWitt; three grandchildren, Jamie Eaton, Kyla Bryant (Bart), and John Howard Nutt (Samantha); five great-grandchildren Jack and Abby Eaton, Boone and Holdyn Bryant, and Hayden Nutt; two sisters, Donna Rasco of Benton and Betty Horton (Harold) of Fayetteville; special nieces and nephews, Jane Jo Barnett (Dan), Tim Horton (Lauren), and Holly Banister (Brian) and other nieces and nephews; and special friends David and Corita Boyd, Greg and Cindy Stewart, Gail Milliken, and Jane McMullen. Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Friday, March 8 at Essex Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, March 9 at First United Methodist Church with burial in Cedarcrest Memorial Gardens by Essex Funeral Home.
