DENNIS LEROY SOBBA of Jacksonville died peacefully at his home on March 1, 2019 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Clara Sobba of Garnett, Kansas and his son Dennis Lee Sobba. Left to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 61 years, Nancy Sobba; daughter, Trudy (Dennis) Akins; sons, Michael (Carol) Sobba and Jerry (Rhenda) Sobba; thirteen grandchildren; and five great–grandchildren. Survivors also include his brother, Ronnie Sobba; and sister, Jane Katzer of Kansas. Family was always first with Dennis. He was always eager for the next Sobba Family gathering. He had an uncanny way of making everyone feel comfortable and special. He proudly served 20 years in the USAF with tours of duty in Nevada, Florida, Germany, Greece, Taiwan, North Dakota and Arkansas. After retiring from the USAF, he was an insurance agent, realtor, and Justice of the Peace serving two terms on the Quorum Court. As a Justice of the Peace, he enjoyed marrying people for many years. During these years, he managed to volunteer as a commissioner helping form the North Pulaski Fire Protection, District #15 for 11 years. His favorite job was volunteering at the Little Rock Air Force Base Pharmacy for the last 7 years where he amused many with his jokes and general good humor. He was a lifelong member of St. Jude's the Apostle Catholic Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. He organized the Annual Charity Golf Tournament for the Knights for years. He loved golf and made sure his sons, grandsons, and son-in-law always had plenty of golf balls and clubs and played in the church tournament, practice optional.
