Cora Colleen "Sis" Swan Byrd

Cora Colleen "Sis" Swan Byrd went to be with her Savior Wednesday March 6th, 2019. She was born on August 14th, 1933 in Gilmer Texas to Alvin & Donie Swan. Colleen was a loving wife, momma, grandma, sister, aunt, & friend. She was a devout Christian and was a big part of her church until her strokes. She loved being able to stay home and raise her sons. She was loved by all that knew her and will be truly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; beloved husband of 61 years Robert "Bob" Byrd Sr.; one sister Jo Ann Beard. Left to cherish her memory are one brother, Herbert Tatum (Dorothy); two sons, Robert "Bob" Byrd Jr. (Angela); & Wesley Byrd; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; & a host of nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Lakewood Nursing Home and the wonderful care received by Kindred Hospice. In keeping with her love of others, Colleen donated her body for scientific research. A memorial service will be held at her church Lakewood United Methodist Church (1922 Topf Rd. N.L.R.) on Wednesday March 13th at 2 p.m. with a reception to follow.
