Charles Lloyd Hodges, 78, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away, Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Circle of Life Hospice in Bentonville. He was born December 15, 1940 in Brownfield, Texas to Kenneth and Marjorie (Wilkins) Hodges. Charles graduated from Hale Center High School in 1958, and then obtained an undergraduate degree from Texas Tech then a Masters from the Texas A&M University. On August 28, 1967, he married the former Countess McNeill in Canyon, Texas. Charles was employed as a County Extension Agent in Benton County and was well known throughout the county and state. After retiring, he worked for several years as a Deputy for the Benton County Sheriff's office. He enjoyed his work connecting and helping farmers and ranchers. He was a cowboy at heart and always wearing the hat to prove that. He was a long-time member at the Bentonville Church of Christ where he served as an elder for a number of years. Charles also enjoyed writing, his dogs and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Marjorie Hodges. Charles is survived by his wife, Countess of Bentonville, Ark.; one daughter, Kathy Hodges Matherly and husband, Todd of Bentonville; his brother, Mack Hodges and wife, Rhonda of Lubbock, Texas; two grandchildren, Emma and Jake Matherly. Memorial visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 15, 2019 in The Lodge at Bentonville Church of Christ. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:00am, Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Bentonville Church of Christ, 904 N Walton Blvd, Bentonville, Arkansas 72712. Memorials may be made to Bentonville Christian Academy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Stockdale-Moody Funeral Services in Rogers. Memories may be shared at stockdale-moodyfs.com.
