Dale Owen Boutwell

Mr. Dale Owen Boutwell, resident of McCrory, Arkansas, formerly of Dallas, Texas, departed this life on Monday, March 11, 2019, at Woodruff County Health Center in McCrory at the age of 82. Mr. Boutwell was born in Louisiana on Friday, November 6, 1936, the son of Mr. Louie James Boutwell and Mrs. Wilma (Cobb) Boutwell. Mr. Boutwell was a 1955 graduate of Cotton Plant High School where he found his lifelong calling of football. After graduation, Dale was accepted to the University of Arkansas before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. Upon his discharge from the Marines, Mr. Boutwell attended Monticello A&M (now University of Arkansas Monticello) where he received his bachelor's degree in coaching. Dale went on to coach at Wichita State University, and eventually found his way to Dallas where he worked in sales and promotions for the Dallas Cowboys for 15 years. Mr. Boutwell was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jerry Dean Boutwell, Sr.; and a nephew, Jerry Dean Boutwell Jr. He is survived by a daughter, Joni Williams of Wynne, Arkansas; two grandchildren, Hana Williams of Little Rock, Arkansas and Hunter Williams of Wynne, Arkansas; a sister-in-law, Marilu Boutwell of Senatobia, Mississippi; a niece, Dana (Boutwell) Ross of Senatobia, Mississippi; several great-nieces and nephews; multiple great-great-nieces and nephews; close friends, Barry Switzer, Don Switzer, Jerry Jones, Larry Lacewell, Jim Moody, Billy Moore, Jimmy "Red" Parker, and Jimmy Johnson; the 1950's Razorback family; his Dallas Cowboys family; a host of other relatives; and a lifetime of great friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Monday, March 18, 2019, at Thompson-Wilson Funeral Home in Wynne, Arkansas with Brother Greg Dewitt officiating. Interment will follow in Cotton Plant Memorial Cemetery. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 12 noon to service time. Those honored to serve as pallbearers are Charles Barry, Bo Boutwell, Oliver Boutwell, Owen Boutwell, Barry Switzer, Don Switzer, Doug Switzer, and Stephen Ross.
